Choosing your perfect splitboard
Choosing a splitboard is an important decision. Your splitboard will be an extension of your body in undeniably committing situations. No matter what terrain you ride, when you head into the backcountry it’s imperative that you execute your tour and make it back to the trailhead efficiently. Riding the right splitboard for your size and the terrain will allow you to be most efficient moving up or down.
Choosing a splitboard model
The best model splitboard for you depends on your riding style and the terrain you ride. All of our models can handle all-terrain and all-conditions, but each model has design features that are tweaked to offer the highest possible performance in more specific terrain. Here is an overview of our models. Check the product pages for detailed performance features for each model.

Choosing a splitboard size
For a majority of riders and terrain, your ideal size splitboard is the same as your freeride/powder board.
If you primarily ride a freestyle board in bounds then you’ll want to size up 5 cm for best performance in pow. If you plan on doing a lot of multi-day tours, or only splitboarding on deep pow days, go with a longer powder board size. In general be conservative sizing up. Smaller splitboards are lighter on the way up and more nimble in the inevitably tight backcountry terrain. The shapes and rocker profiles on Jones splitboards are designed to provide insane float in compact sizes and you can always set back the stance for those ridiculously deep days.
Big footed riders should stick to wide sizes as it can be sketchy to ride a splitboard that’s too narrow on steep, firm terrain. If your goal is to tour all season long you want to choose a size that is easily maneuverable in all-conditions - winter fluff to spring hard pack.
