About Marissa

Where is your favorite place to snowboard and why?

My favorite place to ride is the Revelstoke backcountry. It’s steep and has a wide elevation range to explore. It provides limitless riding experiences between alpine, couloirs, pillows, cut-blocks and trees that can be either crowd favorites or nearly untouched and uncharted.

What has snowboarding or the mountains taught you?

The mountains have taught me to work hard, to be cautiously optimistic, flexible, stable and stoic. With that, the reward is the ride down. Snowboarding in the mountains unleashes pure joy and love and has taught me that by unlocking these feelings of freedom, anything is possible.

Tell us about one incredible or influential snowboarding achievement or moment.

A very influential experience I had snowboarding was visiting Slovakia to snowboard and splitboard. My heritage and ancestors are from this part of the world and being there made me feel incredibly connected to life as a whole. Without snowboarding, I am not sure I would have ever experienced this powerful feeling of presence. My goal is to expand and explore this area more. I feel like there is so much there that is inherently a part of me that I need to unexplainably be part of.

What are you passionate about besides snowboarding?

Being outside, aviation, the weather, biking and embracing opportunities.

Marissa's favorite gear

Women's Stratos – 152

"This board charges! It is fun for high speeds, quick turn radius’ and getting low for hand drags! It’s surfy, snappy, stable and is great for jumps and dropping cornices. It’s powerful in the pow and poppy and light for turns in the trees!"

Solution – 158

"I love the versatility of this splitboard. It is very dependable on steep and icy terrain but is still fun and floaty in powdery trees. It has carried me over some chattery conditions at high speeds and I have been able to stomp bigger features than I ever have before. It is great in ski mode as well!"
