The variable dangers of deep slab instabilities are some of the toughest things to predict when assessing avy danger. The persistent weak layers that cause these instabilities may be widespread or might just be found in isolated terrain pockets. The uncertainty of where these dangers may be lurking demands that you make important but difficult decisions regarding risk assessment and terrain selection. Poor decision making can have catastrophic consequences when your dealing with deep slabs.
