This December marks Jones Snowboard’s third annual Avalanche Awareness Month. We feel December is the ideal month to refresh your understanding of Avalanche and Emergency First Aid skills so you are prepared and well-practiced to make good decisions for the rest of the winter.
To kick things off, we have a video by the High Fives Foundation, called – B.A.S.I.C.S. – Avalanche Awareness. This 15 min video features Jeremy Jones and other professional skiers and shredders talking about the importance of avalanche education and how to be armed with both the equipment and knowledge necessary for safe backcountry travel.
The video is dedicated to Lake Tahoe skier Ben Brackett who lost his life in an avalanche in 2012. Donations already made in honor of “Benny” helped fund this Avalanche Awareness video. Please help High Five’s Avalanche Education program to grow by donating today: (highfivesfoundation.org/index.php/donate/restricted/basics).
